The Appointment
What should I do to prepare for my appointment?
Not all that much! We just ask that you place any fragile or valuable items in a safe location, away from the areas to be cleaned. Also, if there is excessive debris, such as dog hair or trash, vacuuming beforehand will make for a much smoother cleaning process.
What do I do after my appointment?
Although we remove most of the moisture from your carpet, they will still be damp to the touch. Drying times vary based on the type of carpet, the amount of soiling, and the surrounding environment, but are typically between 4 and 24 hours. Drying times can be accelerated by opening windows, turning on fans, and turning on the AC/heater. Until the carpet dries, furnishings with wood or metal bases should remain on protective pads. Walking on the carpet is fine as long as shoes or feet are clean. Lastly, take care not to slip when walking from damp carpet to hard surfaces.
Carpet
When should I get my carpets cleaned?
Having your carpets cleaned regularly will extend their life and make them look better, longer. Carpet manufacturers generally recommend cleaning your carpet every 6 to 18 months. If you have kids or pets, you may want them cleaned more often. A dingy appearance to your carpet is a good indication that it’s time.
How long does the job take?
With a two person crew, the average job takes about one to two hours. However, allow extra time for heavily soiled areas, furniture moving, and of course, larger homes.
Are your products safe for children and pets?
We use a cleaning solution very similar to laundry detergent for your clothes. Our products are non-toxic and do not present a threat to your loved ones, either two-legged or four.
What is fabric protector and should I have it reapplied?
New carpet generally comes with some kind of protector. This protector creates an invisible barrier around the fibers of the carpet, which prevents dry soils from abrading the material, and from spills becoming stains. Over time, this protector breaks down from everyday use and cleaning. We offer and recommend reapplying Dupont Teflon® fabric protector to any fabric you have cleaned. By doing so, your carpet will look brighter, stay cleaner, and last longer.

Tile/Grout
Why should I have my tile and grout cleaned?
Just like carpet, hard surfaces require the occasional deep cleaning that only the professionals can provide. Due to the porous nature of tile/grout, dirt and grime can accumulate on these surfaces, resulting in a dull and dingy appearance. Our powerful equipment can solve this problem for you.
Why should I have my grout sealed?
Like protector for carpet, sealant can create an invisible barrier between the grout and the dirt that makes cleaning easier and increases the longevity of your tile floors and counters.
How long do I have to stay off my tile floors?
Even with sealant applied, tile and grout typically dry within an hour.
Upholstery
What is the best method for cleaning upholstery?
The short answer is Hot Water Extraction. Upholstery manufacturers are required by law to post the safest cleaning method on their furniture. However, in many cases, this is not the most effective cleaning method. When we arrive, we will inspect your furniture and make a determination as to which procedure would be best.
How does Bruce's clean upholstery?
We use the Hot Water Extraction Method to thoroughly and effectively remove the most amount of soil possible.
How long does the process take?
Upholstery cleaning times vary greatly depending on material, soiling, and size. For reference, a three-cushion couch typically takes about 45 minutes.
Oriental and Area Rugs
Is my cherished, antique, turkey rug safe with you?
We have years of experience cleaning and handling every type of rug. Our methods are thorough, but safe, even on the most delicate rugs. You can be confident your family heirloom is in capable hands.
What is the difference between the two cleaning methods you offer?
Our first method is a general, on-site cleaning of the rug, similar to the way we clean carpet. It is less expensive than our more thorough cleaning, but still offers an excellent value for inexpensive and mid-range rugs. Our second method is a more thorough, off site cleaning, at our facility. Before cleaning the rug, we use special equipment that literally vibrates the dry soil and dust out of the rug. We then gently shampoo, rinse and extract any remaining soils. When dry, your rug will be rolled up, packaged, and delivered at a time convenient for you. We recommend this procedure for delicate and expensive Oriental rugs.
